The LUX Arts Festival 2023 is a week of diverse, creative events at Danbury Mission Church for you and your friends featuring talented artists and performers who will also share something of their Christian faith.
This year’s line-up includes Scottish singer-songwriter Ellyn Oliver, West End performers John and Heidi Langley, London-based rapper Collistar, and the hugely popular Saltmine Theatre Company.
March 1st | 6pm | Saltmine Theatre Company
Adapted from legendary storyteller Bob Hartman’s highly acclaimed ‘Rhyming Bible’, this magnificent all-age musical will take you from the creation of the earth to its glorious redemption.

March 2nd | 8pm | Ellyn Oliver
Ellyn Oliver is an Aberdeenshire-born, Glasgow based singer-songwriter. Her style crosses a number of genres including gospel, blues, folk, soul and jazz. Ellyn released her debut EP ‘Arms wide open’ in 2019 to much critical acclaim. Ellyn travels the world sharing stories of faith through her solo work and stunning covers of Fleetwood Mac and Eva Cassidy.

March 3rd | 8pm | Collistar (Featuring Imperial)
Collistar is a new-generation rap artist. After gaining national attention for his fast-paced, hard-hitting social commentary on modern Britain, Collistar suddenly disappeared from the internet and removed all his content. In 2020, he came back with fresh fire, rapping about his lost generation and his own surprising journey to faith. Collistar wants to bring some light to young people who feel lost in these times. Featuring DJ set from crazy talented hip-hop producer Imperial.
The event is pitched at Generation Z (11-26s).

March 4th | 8pm | Les Mis (Songs from the show)
A moving and thought-provoking performance featuring the musical talents of West End singers John and Heidi Langley and musicians. Also featuring a short talk on how the show illuminates themes of the Christian message.

March 5th | 10am | Open House Church Service
Come along to one of our open house services at Danbury Mission, City Church Chelmsford, or Greenstead Evangelical Church to hear a talk about Jesus and his claim to be “the light of the world”.
There will be refreshments after the service. No booking required.
